All Your Days | Shallou, Emmitt Fenn
all your days, shallou x emmitt fenn |
he lived by the sun. each moment new & full of possibility.
he lived like there was so much to live for.
he didn't have much, but he had everything.
he was brave. he took risks. he craved life.
he was shaped by a country that couldn't offer him all that he dreamed of.
shaped by constant efforts to succeed, to stand up straight and tall,
only to fall asleep each night with an ache in his neck - the product of low ceilings.
beautiful, but limiting.
he met this girl (as it happens).
pretty, bright, full of possibility.
she was kind. exciting. the things she showed him, the places she came from.
she was a way out. or at least, she offered a new perspective.
a way to feel limitless.
& so they fell in love.
he wasn't sure if it was enough, and so he promised to love her til he died.
& she vowed to spend all her days by his side.
& so it had to be enough.
in any case, it was a new life. a new start. a new possibility.
and he craved that after all.
and still he spent his days in the sun.
following life. following passion.
because all you have is this moment, why not spend it
kissing in parking lots, dancing in gas stations, tangled in sheets
watching the sun come through the window.
so it was enough.
she was enough.
a new life would be enough.
he told himself
from the window seat,
as he bid his country goodbye.
